The Warband's Legacy plan
How Undrwrldcub's four Horde characters earn and spend Legacy points from launch on Nov 4: rotate all four to level 15 while the crafters reach skill 150, take them on to 25, then focus the main. No PvP challenge is on the route.
Advice on this page is Analysis; rules carry their own label. Updated Oct 26, 2026. Try the builds in the planner; tick progress on the tracker. Perk data: Legacy Perks.
Five crafting professions at skill 150 and 225 (10 points), four classes at level 25 (4) and the level 15-25 dungeon set (1). The 16th comes from the main's level 45 or the 26-45 dungeon set, whichever comes first.
Class challenges pay at 25, 45 and 60, so nothing pays before 25 except crafting skill 150, trainable from level 10. The system opens with the first point, so the first crafter to reach 150 unlocks it.
Points are shared by the account and each character spends its own. Well Rested makes offline characters bank rested XP faster, which is exactly how a rotation levels.
Every account starts launch at zero; the 16-point tester grant was for the beta only.
How Legacy works
| Rule | Detail | Confidence |
|---|---|---|
| Earning | 65 one-time challenges pay 1 point each to the account; repeating a challenge on another character adds nothing. | Official |
| Spending | Up to 16 points per character at launch, chosen separately on each character; spending never uses points up for other characters. | Official |
| Unlock | Legacy opens with the first point earned; the Legacy window is on the Y key. | Reported |
| Respec | At a class trainer in a major city, for gold; the launch price is not announced. | Reported |
| Reward track | Counts points earned, not spent: a toy at 15, a pet at 25, a tabard at 40 and Reins of the Spectral Bear at 55. | Confirmed |
| What does not pay | Levels below 25, gathering professions (Herbalism, Mining, Skinning), Cooking, Fishing and First Aid. | Official |
The roster
| Character | Class challenges | Crafting that pays | Gathering (feeds the crafters, pays 0) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Troll Shaman (main) | Shaman 25 / 45 / 60 | Engineering | Mining |
| Skyborne Druid | Druid 25 / 45 / 60 | Alchemy | Herbalism |
| Undead Mage | Mage 25 / 45 / 60 | Enchanting, Tailoring | - |
| Orc Hunter | Hunter 25 / 45 / 60 | Leatherworking | Skinning |
Every crafter has its own supply: ore from the Shaman, herbs from the Druid, leather from the Hunter, cloth and disenchantable greens from all four to the Mage. All four take Cooking, Fishing and First Aid; they pay no points but feed the XP food, potions and camp buffs below.
The earning route Analysis
| Milestone | Gate | Points |
|---|---|---|
| 5 crafting professions to 150 | Journeyman training, level 10 | 5 |
| 5 crafting professions to 225 | Expert training, level 20 | 5 |
| 4 classes to 25 | Level 25 | 4 |
| Novice Spelunker | All 15-25 dungeons: Ragefire Chasm or Hall of Thanes, Wailing Caverns, Shadowfang Keep, Ruins of Lordaeron, The Deadmines, Excavation Site: Wetlands | 1 |
| Total by level 25 | 15 | |
| 16th point | The main's level 45, or every 26-45 dungeon | 1 |
Past the cap, points still fill the reward track: the main's 60, the alts' 45s, artisan 300s, the 46-60 dungeon set and the raids from Dec 9. Fifteen earned at 25 already passes the toy.
The plan Analysis
Phase 1: launch to all four at 15
- Level each character in turn; log out at an inn or a camp so the others bank rested XP.
- Pool materials toward the crafters as you go: ore to the Shaman's Engineering, leather to the Hunter's Leatherworking, herbs to the Druid's Alchemy, cloth and greens to the Mage.
- At level 10, train Journeyman on each crafter and push to 150. The first one there unlocks Legacy; every character spends points as they arrive.
- Let dungeon quests drive each route, and clear Ragefire Chasm or Hall of Thanes, Wailing Caverns and The Deadmines as they come up: they count toward Novice Spelunker.
Phase 2: all four from 15 to 25
- At level 20, train Expert and take the five crafting professions to 225.
- Finish the 15-25 dungeon set: Shadowfang Keep, Ruins of Lordaeron and Excavation Site: Wetlands remain.
- Each character to 25 for its class point. Every character now runs its 15-point build.
Phase 3: the main to 60, alts in support
- The Troll Shaman levels with a full build; the alts keep crafting and gathering for him and for gold.
- His level 45 brings the 16th point to every character. His 60, the 26-45 and 46-60 dungeon sets, and Onyxia, Hyjal Summit and Barrow Deeps from Dec 9 fill the reward track toward the tabard at 40. Without PvP the account tops out at 53 of 65 points, so the Spectral Bear at 55 stays out of reach until Blizzard adds challenges.
- Alts to 45 when convenient; each is another point.
Spending Analysis
While points are few, every character puts them into Well Rested. At 15, each takes the build that fits its job, and adds the 16th rank when the main reaches 45. Ranks and prerequisites are from the beta client (Oct 22 build) and may change at launch.
| Character | 15-point build | 16th rank |
|---|---|---|
| Troll Shaman (main) | Well Rested 5, Bountiful Harvest 5, Working Overtime 3, Field Guide 1, Frequent Flier 1 | Working Overtime 4 |
| Skyborne Druid | Well Rested 5, Bountiful Harvest 5, Working Overtime 3, Gourmand 1, Permanence 1 | Permanence 2 |
| Undead Mage | Well Rested 5, Working Overtime 5, Bartering 2, Dedicated Study 1, Field Guide 1, Frequent Flier 1 | Master Chef 1 |
| Orc Hunter | Well Rested 5, Bountiful Harvest 5, Working Overtime 3, Field Guide 1, Frequent Flier 1 | Thrill of Adventure 1 |
- Prerequisites: Dedicated Study needs a rank of Bartering, Frequent Flier needs Field Guide, Reagent Economy needs The Quick and the Dead, Permanence needs Gourmand, Talented needs Well Rested, Performance Bonus needs Bountiful Harvest.
- Talented (talents from level 9, or 5 at rank 5) pays only on a character still below 10.
- Respecs cost gold, so set each build once at 15 rather than reshuffling every point.
- At 60 the main swaps Well Rested for Gourmand and Permanence, and The Quick and the Dead plus Reagent Economy, which matter more in raids.
Boosts to make or take
The biggest XP gains for a rotation are rested XP (camp, Well Rested, inns), Well Fed food and the Cozy Sleeping Bag; for skill-ups, the campsite objects at skill 20 and the Legacy profession perks.
XP
| What | Who makes or gets it | Effect | When | Confidence |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Camp Tent (Leatherworking 20) | Orc Hunter crafts it | Sitting at the camp adds rested XP worth 5% of a level, if less than that is banked | Place it before each logout | Reported |
| Well Fed food (Cooking) | All four cook | +5% XP on top of the stat buff; most Well Fed foods carry it, for example Tasty Raptor Bites | Eat before every session | Reported |
| Cozy Sleeping Bag | Each character, by quest chain | Rest in it for 1 minute: up to +3% XP; raises crafted-food XP to 8% at a camp | Chain starts at level 14, Burned-Out Remains, southern Barrens; ends near 20 at Thoradin's Wall, Hillsbrad | Reported |
| Rested XP | Everyone | Log out at an inn or a camp; Well Rested fills it faster | Every logout | Official |
| Dungeon quests | Everyone | Dungeon mobs give more XP than in Classic and dungeon quests carry the bonus XP | Plan each route around them | Reported |
