Skyborne: why one race for both factions (TechRadar interview, Oct 7): The Forever team to TechRadar (published Oct 7; speakers not named): the Skyborne are open

Reported Updated Oct 27, 2026

Fact

The Forever team to TechRadar (published Oct 7; speakers not named): the Skyborne are open to Alliance and Horde mainly to manage 'long-term population balance impact'; Blizzard says adding Blood Elves in The Burning Crusade swung the population from roughly 60/40 Alliance/Horde to 60/40 Horde/Alliance. The team wanted a high elf-like race, chose the Skyborne partly for story reasons and partly to use a little-used Air Elemental culture kit, and expects the Zephras Isle starter zone to take four to six hours before players return to the main continents. It considered a starter zone per faction but built one starter zone plus a second leveling zone, the Riverglades, for scope reasons, and says it has 'bigger plans' for the region.
